Blog #1.5

My experiences with research assignments include constructing a fully documented research paper in both eleventh and twelfth grade. These term papers included lengthy research and were around ten pages each. One of my term papers was taking a book by an American author and then analyzing various aspects of their writing medium. My author was Joyce Carol Oates who wrote blind water. The book was about a drunk and irresponsible senator vacationing. This senator was drinking and driving with this girl he hooked up with and drove him and her off a bridge into black water. The senator was aware of his actions and did not want to get in trouble after making it out alive from the car as it submerged from the black water. The worst part was that the senator was too scared to help his drowning girlfriend and let her die. His actions illustrated that even people in high places can’t be trusted.
Writing is interesting to me but takes a lot of work. I feel as if I spend far too much time working and editing my papers because I am paranoid that they are awful. I like creative writing more than I like research oriented writing because I can express creativity rather than analyzing facts. I also feel that I have to spend much time working with information that I am not familiar with yet. Constructing research analysis can also be harder than writing on your own opinions, as well as the fact that you have to make sure you properly cite your sources.
